CES 2016 Highlights Reel gives a peek at some of the industry leaders,
new products,
top trends, and all around fun happening at CES 2016!
Ford Shows Off Its Android Auto Implementation On The Sync 3 Platform
Products will roll out to current and future Sync 3-equipped cars
later this year.
Sync 3 has been optimized to stay out of the way when
Android Auto is running
by hiding its own redundant systems like the
built-in navigation and phone apps.
Many other in-car systems tend to
prefer their own navigation and dialer if they
are opened from within the
custom interfaces, but Ford will automatically launch
Google Maps and
Auto's own dialer, regardless of which interface you're looking
at.
Mercedes-Benz premiered Mercedes me, the interactive interface
between people, vehicle and the Mercedes-Benz brand – under the
motto 'It’s all about me.'
Mercedes also showcased their innovative
cockpit of the upcoming new E-Class – with high-resolution visualisations
and animations, touch-sensitive control and smartphone integration with
aerial coupling and wireless charging.
They also showcased a sculpture
of a vehicle named the Concept IAA.
Chevrolet unveils the 2017 Bolt EV, an all-electric vehicle that
promises to deliver 200 miles on a single charge. It features
advanced connectivity technologies designed to enhance and
personalize the driving experience. Moderately priced, starting
just below $30,000 (after the $7,500 federal tax rebate), the Bolt
EV will have a late-2016 release date.
Kia Motors introduced the launch of a new sub-brand, DRIVE
WISE, to encompass its future Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
(ADAS). DRIVE WISE embodies Kia’s philosophy to realize intelligently
safe vehicles featuring these ADAS technologies.
DRIVE WISE will enable
Kia to introduce intelligent safety technologies to its future model range,
helping to eliminate potential dangers, while changing how owners interact
with their vehicles.
Starship, the UK-based innovation studio, opened the
mobile social VR network, vTime, in early access. Released
initially for the Samsung Gear VR, the free app allows anyone,
anywhere to socialize with family and friends in a growing
library
of virtual environments.
Scale-1 Portal unveils SCALee, the world's first social
virtual reality media center.
SCALee transforms any wall
into a highly immersive universe where players can interact
naturally in 1:1 scale games and applications. SCALee includes
a powerful Windows 10 based computer, so that its 3 meters
wide projected screen can be used as a media center, browse
the internet or play standard games.
SCALee release date is
scheduled for the last quarter of 2016.
The color vibrancy and deep blacks of OLED truly make 4K shine, and
now with the addition of HDR Pro, LG has vowed that the picture will
be brighter, bolder, and more immersive than ever before. The G6 and
E6 series measure just 2.57 millimeters in depth, and LG calls the
resulting appearance "Picture-On-Glass." LG is also happy to point
out the barely-there bezels and transparent glass backs on those models.

Zivix, the technology company striving to bring music to the masses,
is showcasing Jamstik+ - the world’s first smart guitar. A portable
digital instrument that connects
wirelessly to Apple devices to learn,
play and create music anywhere. It uses infrared light-sensing
technology in its fretboard that “sees” finger placement and provides
real-time feedback.
Additionally, the Jamstik+ includes a suite of apps
from learning to play guitar, to remixing music. With the
Jamstik+ apps,
users can play a variety of instruments, including a banjo, piano, or harp.
Kymera Body Board is the world’s first all-electric, jet-propelled boogie
board. A Shark Tank contestant, Kymera has raised money through
Kickstarter, and has recently began shipping to distributors.
Largely
intended for lifeguards and search and rescue teams, it's designed to
be placed in the water more quickly and easily than personal watercraft.
Kymera weighs 48 pounds with the rechargeable lithium polymer battery
pack, and 29 pounds without it.
Winner of several CES awards, the French-based startup has created a
tool that scans your food
and determines its nutritional value. The product
works by using
Bluetooth and connecting it with a molecular sensor developed
by
SCiO. The molecules vibrate and interact with light in different ways,
helping to determine what’s inside of the food.
CleverPet hub challenges dogs -- and even cats -- to puzzles of sorts
with lights, sounds and touch pads. It automatically rewards pets for
successful completion of a task with treats. The idea is to keep pets
stimulated while their owners are away

Wearable Tech, iProducts, Pet Solutions and 3D Printing
Mirama
Mirama showcases their smart glasses prototype - providing a unique
experience with its gesture recognition system and augmented reality
possibilities. The glasses use imagerecognition and geolocation to allow
the user to view information based on where they are looking.
Currently,
this wearable device is still in its development stages.
AiraWear showcases Aira, a jacket that provides massage on the move,
syncing up and controlled by your smart phone.
The jacket is yet to be
released, but Aira will be on a crowdfunding platform at the end of February 2016.
Entertainment Matters Ambassadors for CES 2016 are a pair
of YouTube vloggers - Justine Ezarik, a.k.a. iJustine, and
Joey Graceffa - who combine for more than 10 million subscribers
and 1.4 billion video views. They are examples of the opportunities
available when the technology and content communities collide.
Entertainment Matters is a CES program developed to help the Hollywood
community navigate the technology show.
Shenzhen Weistek Co., Ltd, a leading researcher and manufacturer

Samsung Electronics launched their Premium Design line
with the Gear S2 classic in Rose Gold and Platinum — for a
