Auto Technology at CES

Advances in automobile technology were a big story at CES 2016, from autonomous
driving and personalization of the driving experience via cloud and smart mobility

Ford Shows Off Its Android Auto Implementation On The Sync 3 Platform

Products will roll out to current and future Sync 3-equipped cars later this year.
Sync 3 has been optimized to stay out of the way when Android Auto is running
by hiding its own redundant systems like the built-in navigation and phone apps.
Many other in-car systems tend to prefer their own navigation and dialer if they
are opened from within the custom interfaces, but Ford will automatically launch
Google Maps and Auto's own dialer, regardless of which interface you're looking
at.

BMW Group highlights leading position in the
area of the Connected Car with the BMW i3 and BMW i Concept Car.

Showcases Gesture Control Parking. The BMW i3 drives into and out of a parking
space, through gesture recognition. BMW i Concept Car’s Vision Future Interaction,
provides an outlook on the networked cockpit and the user interface of the future.
High-resolution displays are controlled with gestures and voice control.

Mercedes

Mercedes-Benz premiered Mercedes me, the interactive interface
between people, vehicle and the Mercedes-Benz brand – under the
motto 'It’s all about me.' Mercedes also showcased their innovative
cockpit of the upcoming new E-Class – with high-resolution visualisations
and animations, touch-sensitive control and smartphone integration with
aerial coupling and wireless charging. They also showcased a sculpture
of a vehicle named the Concept IAA.

Chevy

Chevrolet unveils the 2017 Bolt EV, an all-electric vehicle that
promises to deliver 200 miles on a single charge. It features
advanced connectivity technologies designed to enhance and
personalize the driving experience. Moderately priced, starting
just below $30,000 (after the $7,500 federal tax rebate), the Bolt
EV will have a late-2016 release date.

KIA Motors

Kia Motors introduced the launch of a new sub-brand, DRIVE
WISE, to encompass its future Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
(ADAS). DRIVE WISE embodies Kia’s philosophy to realize intelligently
safe vehicles featuring these ADAS technologies. DRIVE WISE will enable
Kia to introduce intelligent safety technologies to its future model range,
helping to eliminate potential dangers, while changing how owners interact
with their vehicles.

TV Tech

The buzzword most uttered in the presence of 100-inch flat panels
on the show floor was "HDR," which stands for high dynamic range.
Its benefits can be more visible than 4K and it may have a larger
market than 3D.

LG

The color vibrancy and deep blacks of OLED truly make 4K shine, and now
with the addition of HDR Pro, LG has vowed that the picture will be brighter,
bolder, and more immersive than ever before. The G6 and E6 series
measure just 2.57 millimeters in depth, andLG calls the resulting appearance
"Picture-On-Glass." LG is also happy to point out the barely-there bezels
and transparent glass backs on those models.

TCL Launches World’s First QUHD TV Series at CES 2016

QUHD TV is a high-end product category launched by TCL in
2016, equipped with top picture quality processing technologies
such as Quantum Dot, slim local dimming and HDR, as well as
the supreme entertainment technologies integrated with innovative
industrial design, high-standard speakers and the TV+OS. As a new
generation of TV products to lead the trends of the industry, QUHD
TV has specially employed slim local dimming technology to reduce
the optical distance to 5mm which makes Xclusive (X1) the world’s
thinnest local dimming quantum dot TV. Another innovative technology,
Dolby Vision HDR, is also used in the new products to change the whole
process of shooting, post production, transmission and representation,
and represent the rich colors of nature.

Drones

Drones were one of the fastest growing areas at CES 2016 from smaller ones
for capturing video to manned drones controlled by operators on the ground.

EHang Launches First-Ever Autonomous Aerial Vehicle "EHang 184"

EHang, a Chinese unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) company, unveiled today
at CES the EHang 184, the world's first electric, personal Autonomous Aerial
Vehicle (AAV) that will achieve humanity's long-standing dream of easy, everyday
flight for short-to-medium distances.

HEXO+ showcases the first fully autonomous drone

The drone can take off, follow and frame its user while filming
with predetermined camera movements, and safely land. These
processes are entirely automated and simply initiated with the
HEXO+ smartphone application.

Yuneec USA Inc. unveils the Typhoon H, a new category of drone for the enthusiast

The Typhoon H has high-end professional offerings - six rotors, a 360-degree gimbal
camera, a CGO3+ 4K camera and retractable landing gear - but at a consumer price of
$1,799. Planned add-ons include a high performance collision avoidance module based on
Intel® RealSense™ Technology.

Wearables 2.0

The wearable tech industry is projected to grow 64 per cent over the next
three years, reaching $25 billion in 2019 when more than 245 million devices
are expected to ship. Wristbands, smartwatches, jewelry and embedded clothing
are transforming babycare, parenting, health, and fashion.

Samsung Wearables

Samsung Electronics launched their Premium Design line
with the Gear S2 classic in Rose Gold and Platinum — for a
classic, timeless design. These models reflect Samsung’s
commitment to bringing more choice to its consumers while
highlighting design and advanced functionality. The Gear S2
will offer Samsung Pay and is expanding its compatibility to
devices running on iOS to extend accessibility to a wider range
of mobile users.

Fitbit

Fitbit unveiled the Fitbit Blaze™ smart fitness watch, its smartest,
most stylish, most motivating fitness tracker yet. Fitbit Blaze is a
smart fitness watch built to help make the most of workouts, with a
sleek, versatile design, and smart notifications. Fitbit Blaze is available
now for presale with global retail availability starting in March 2016.

Mirama

Mirama showcases their smart glasses prototype - providing a unique
experience with its gesture recognition system and augmented reality
possibilities. The glasses use imagerecognition and geolocation to allow
the user to view information based on where they are looking. Currently,
this wearable device is still in its development stages.

AiraWear

AiraWear showcases Aira, a jacket that provides massage on the move,
syncing up and controlled by your smart phone. The jacket is yet to be
released, but Aira will be on a crowdfunding platform at the end of February 2016.

This year at CES, essentially all of last-year’s vendors were back with new
or enhanced products and, more importantly, lots of industry application examples.

Shenzhen Weistek Co

Shenzhen Weistek Co., Ltd, a leading researcher and manufacturer
of Consumer 3D Printers and Software, showcases two 3D printing products.
The IdeaWerk Desktop 3D Printer is a ultra-fast printer, capable of increasing
desktop 3D printing speeds by 5 up to 10 times. They also showcase a
kid-friendly 3D desktop printer, controlled through smart devices.

The completely new flexible plastic material developed

Virtual & Augmented Reality

CES 2016 is the year of VR with new launches from major players.
According to the CTA, virtual reality headsets are expected to take off
in in 2016 with projected sales up by 500 percent to 1.2 million units.
The CTA announced that virtual reality exhibits on the show floor will grew by 77 percent.

Starship - vTime

Starship, the UK-based innovation studio, opened the
mobile social VR network, vTime, in early access. Released
initially for the Samsung Gear VR, the free app allows anyone,
anywhere to socialize with family and friends in a growing library
of virtual environments.

Scale-1 Portal

Scale-1 Portal unveils SCALee, the world's first social
virtual reality media center. SCALee transforms any wall
into a highly immersive universe where players can interact
naturally in 1:1 scale games and applications. SCALee includes
a powerful Windows 10 based computer, so that its 3 meters
wide projected screen can be used as a media center, browse
the internet or play standard games. SCALee release date is
scheduled for the last quarter of 2016.

Zivix, the technology company striving to bring music to the masses,
is showcasing Jamstik+ - the world’s first smart guitar. A portable
digital instrument that connects wirelessly to Apple devices to learn,

Kymera

Kymera Body Board is the world’s first all-electric, jet-propelled boogie
board. A Shark Tank contestant, Kymera has raised money through
Kickstarter, and has recently began shipping to distributors. Largely
intended for lifeguards and search and rescue teams, it's designed to
be placed in the water more quickly and easily than personal watercraft.
Kymera weighs 48 pounds with the rechargeable lithium polymer battery
pack, and 29 pounds without it.

DietSensor Scans Your Food For Calories

Winner of several CES awards, the French-based startup has created a
tool that scans your food and determines its nutritional value. The product
works by using Bluetooth and connecting it with a molecular sensor developed
by SCiO. The molecules vibrate and interact with light in different ways,
helping to determine what’s inside of the food.

CleverPet hub challenges dogs -- and even cats -- to puzzles of sorts

Hydrao, the Smart Shower

Developed by French firm Start & Blue, Hydrao has built-in LED
lights that change colour as more and more water is used. Once a
50 litre limit has passed it flashes red to suggest it might be time to get
out of the shower. The system works with a companion app, available
for iOS and Android, to let users track water use over time with further
options to change the water consumption threshold and what colour
the shower head flashes.
