Robert Schwartz, Account Executive and Washington Correspondent of D S Simon Productions, speaks with Arleen Ryback, of the Staten Island Hospital Center, about social media use in the health community at the PR News Social Media Summit Taste of Tech in New York.

Arleen’s VlogViews:

“We are using our marketing and our public relations staff and we have linked our Facebook, Twitter and website so that all three are linked together. We are having conversations with our community and as a hospital we communicate health tips, studies that are coming out and events. We are for full outreach. We have community events with health screenings and we also have free health seminars in order to promote health in our own community. ”

“During Hurricane Irene, instead of relying on what a newspaper will carry, which is a delayed response, and what a TV will cover, we had direct access, a direct voice and a direct conversation with the community and the public we needed to reach, when we needed to reach them.”
