2020 Nielsen Local Watch Report

Local news audience has become younger, more diverse and more informed

Here are some stats that might surprise you:

  • Local TV news has 74% more viewers than cable news and 29% more than network news among those aged 25-54
  • 64% of those working from home watch local news on a weekly basis
  • Black, Hispanic and Asian-American news viewers are the fastest-growing group
  • 18-34-year-olds increased TV news consumption 134% during the past year
